Autumn began studying the harp with Stephanie Bennett when she was 7 years old then continued her studies with Ellie Choate in addition to having occasional coachings with other teachers such as Julie Ann Smith. Since moving from California to Massachusetts in the summer of 2014 she has studied with Felice Pomeranz, harp professor at Berklee College of Music, where Autumn now attends college. Autumn has loved to perform ever since first beginning the harp and has played for numerous churches, weddings, luncheons and educational settings in addition to performing often with orchestras and chamber ensembles.
While in California, Autumn was the harpist for the Song of the Angels Flute Orchestra. She performed Hanson’s Concerto for Flute, Harp and Strings (with David Shostac, flute) and the Handel Harp Concerto with them. She recorded with the flute orchestra as well, playing harp on Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and on Sibelius’ Swan of Tuonela for their Live at St. James in the City album. Autumn also played harp with the Corona Symphony.
Currently, Autumn plays harp with orchestras and ensembles at Berklee College of Music and with the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. She also performs regularly with other area orchestras such as Symphony Pro Musica, the Metrowest Symphony, Boston Civic Symphony, and the Lincoln-Sudbury Civic Symphony. Autumn is the harpist for Espressivo Flute and Harp, collaborating with Maria Ramey on flute to provide beautiful and uplifting music with the goal of bringing peace and healing to those who hear it. They perform full concerts and provide music for weddings, luncheons and other settings.
Growing up in a musical family has created an atmosphere of musical creativity and Autumn especially enjoys composing her own music. She composed her first solo for harp when she was 8 years old and has written several pieces since then. She also enjoys collaborating with her family on music projects and performances. With flute and french horn playing parents and two younger brothers who play oboe and percussion respectively, the possibilities are numerous!
Autumn performs on Lyon and Healy harps, Style 100 and Style 17.
In addition to playing the harp and composing, Autumn also enjoys singing and playing the guitar. She often accompanies herself singing on either harp or guitar. She has particular interest in film composition and plans to declare a double major in performance and film scoring at Berklee in her sophomore year.
